NFFF Receives VCOS Chairman’s Award During Symposium in The Sun

Foundation Honored for Outstanding Efforts to Support Survivors and Reduce LODDs

In recognition of exemplary contributions to the fire service and the families of fallen firefighters, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) recently received the Chairman’s Award from the Volunteer and Combination Officers Section (VCOS) of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). Chief Timothy S. Wall, chair of the VCOS presented the award to Chief Ronald J. Siarnicki, executive director of the NFFF during the closing ceremonies of the 2012 Symposium in the Sun in Clearwater, FL.

During his presentation before nearly 500 fire service representatives, Chief Wall commented that selecting the NFFF was an easy choice considering all the programs and services the Foundation offers to support the families of the fallen and reduce the number of line-of-duty deaths.

After the presentation, Chief Siarnicki said he was, “completely surprised by the award and gratefully accepted it on behalf of the Foundation’s staff, volunteers and board members.”

In addition to receiving the award, the NFFF rolled out a new Company Officer Development program that it has been developing over the past 18 months during two training sessions at the conference.
