SOAR Training Available for Burn Injured Firefighters and Their Loved Ones

The IAFF Burn Foundation and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation have partnered over the last year with the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors to develop a firefighter peer support component of the Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR) Program. Available internationally at 50 burn centers, the SOAR program provides formal training for survivors and family volunteers so they may offer one-on-one support to burn survivors and loved ones affected by a burn injury. In this next phase, we are recruiting burn injured firefighters and their loved ones to be SOAR trained peer supporters. If you know anyone who may be interested in this opportunity please contact Pam Peterson at pam@phoenix-society.org or 1-800-888-2876 if you have any further questions or would like further details. The course will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, Cincinnati Ohio. There is a limited amount of funding available for those that wish to be trained.
